Crack Green Bean Casserole (with bacon)

Description

This Crack Green Bean Casserole is delicious! A sweet sauce with soy and brown sugar, along with crispy bacon combine for a heavenly side dish that is a great dish to take to a potluck dinner or dinner party. You can easily double and triple this recipe for a crowd.


Ingredients

4 14 oz.. cans green beans (depending on the size of your can, I used 42 oz. total)

12 strips bacon, cook until slightly crispy

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup butter, melted

2 tablespoons, plus one teaspoon soy sauce

2 teaspoons garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Cook bacon over medium heat, just until crispy.  Drain and set aside. 
  2. Drain canned green beans and place in 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  3. In a separate small bowl, combine brown sugar, melted butter, soy sauce and garlic powder. 
  4. Pour over green beans. Top with cooked bacon.
  5. Bake in 350°F oven for 40 minutes.

Notes

Substitutions: You can easily substitute turkey bacon in this recipe.

Want to substitute fresh green beans? Absolutely! Simply boil green beans in water until crisp-tender, drain and proceed with recipe. 

Variation: Add sautéed onions to mixture before baking.

Storage Instructions: Store cooled casserole, covered in refrigerator in airtight storage container for three to four days.  Reheat, covered in foil in a 350°F oven for 20-25 minutes.
